Today we had split class and I
was sent to a ‘better’ class as my English result was good. But what I was
really looking forward to is the Buddy programme in the afternnon. My buddy is
Sam. He is a member of the school basketball team. I needed to go to lessons
with him in the whole afternoon. I found that the lessons are very different
from Hong Kong. Students can use their cell phones
in class freely. After lunch, we had the Physical Education lesson in the auditorium.
Unlike the PE lessons we used to have in Hong Kong,
they don’t do exercise or sports but learn the theory. And I am so glad to have
this opportunity to study in this class.

Today, we had great fun on
learning about the cultures and history about New Zealand in our English lesson.
After the English class, we
paired up with our buddies. I got two buddies called Nathan and Jordan. They
are very friendly and introduced their friends to me. I met lots of friend at
this school.
I feel privileged to be a one-day
student in Whangaparao
College and I will definitely
remember this one-in-a-life experience!

Although I was assigned to a weaker class, Ms
Kathy, the English teacher, prepared many amusing activities for us.
After the English class, we met
our buddy. I used to think that foreigners are very tall but when I first met
my buddy, I found that I am taller than my buddy and I felt a bit happy about
it. My first lesson was Arts. My heart sank as I am extremely weak in drawing. At
last, I only drew two shells and I thought they were very ugly.
Then, we had our lunch with
friends for 30 minutes. After that, we had Maths lesson. It was as easy as the Form
1 level in Hong Kong. All in all, the teaching
method in New Zealand is
extremely different from Hong Kong; especially,
students can play phones in the lessons.
